Sports nutrition is a broad interdisciplinary field that focuses on the science behind and application of proper nutrition during exercise. 

Good nutrition can enhance sporting performance. A well-planned, nutritious diet  should meet most of an athlete’s vitamin and mineral needs, and provide enough protein to promote muscle growth and repair. 

Nutritional management /modified diets/ therapeutic diets of endocrine disorder (hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism diabetes , hypoglycemia), post surgery, diseases of liver biliary tract ,pancreas (cirrhosis of liver jaundice ,hepatitis, gallbladder ,gallbladder stone, acute and chronic pancreatitis), diseases of digestive tract (peptic ulcer, flatulence, gastritis, diarrhoea, celiac disease ,ulcerative colitis, constipation, short bowel syndrome), diseases of cardiovascular system (atherosclerosis ,coronary heart disease hyperlipidemia , hypertension), diseases due to metabolic disorder (gout diabetes mellitus rheumatoid arthritis osteoarthritis), diseases of nervous system, diseases of kidney and urinary tract, fever, tuberculosis, pneumonia, inborn errors of metabolism, endocrine 

disorder (hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism),Cancer, dietary deficiency diseases. These modified diets are prescribed according to medical history including biomedical reports ,socio-economic history, and dietary history.
